Amy McClain, Kindergarten Teacher
My name is Amy McClain. I have been married for almost 11 years to Roary, and we have been blessed with three children. When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my amazing family, reading, or sewing.
I accepted Jesus as my savior the summer before fifth grade. I was raised in a Christ-centered home and received a strong foundation. I trust daily in the Lord and know His guidance and provision have led me thus far and will continue as I rely on Him. Psalm 62:7 is one of my favorite verses: "My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge."
I received my BA degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Bible from Corban University. From there, I followed the Lord’s leading to Texas. I taught second grade for seven years in Killeen ISD. That is also where I was led to my husband.
I earned my MA degree in Curriculum and Instruction with my Reading Specialist certification in 2005. I have my Texas teaching certification and my ACSI teaching certification.
My husband was active duty Army. We had the privilege to live in Texas and Kentucky. While we were in Kentucky, I taught kindergarten for a year. I completed my second MA degree in Instructional Design and Technology while I chased two active toddlers around.
We had one more duty station before my husband decided to go Army Reserve, Washington State. We have been here four years. I am completing my 9th year of teaching, and the Lord had called my husband to Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). As he took the King County director job, we also felt the push to move into King County. I started looking for a new school to call home and that was when I found Valley Christian. I am very excited to become a part of the Valley Christian family. I am eager to use the knowledge and skills the Lord has given me to serve you and your children.
